Sorry for the Hurney typo. I stand by my belief that the lack of activity about trades reflects uncertainty about the value presented by the number one pick as a pick this year more than merely a lack of interest in Newton.

Point taken. But I question the value issue because of the uncertainty of the top players in this year's class. I don't anyone would question the value if an Andrew Luck or another slam-dunk No. 1 overall were available.

Actually, the Panthers' biggest weakness is at GM. So taking Newton No. 1 would be fitting.

Actually, Marty Hurney has been a pretty decent GM. You worry about Jerry Angelo messing up your crew and let Hurney decide what he's doing with this pick. :)

  5. All this Panthers talk is getting ridiculous! Can't we get back on track ... to the Steelers?

In the last 10 years, outside of Brees and Henne, has there been a second round QB worth a shit?

I see tons of Kolbs, Ragones, Clements and the like, but Brees seems like the only one who turned into a very good NFL player.

Henne is a pile of manure / Cross Thread.

  10. Actually, the being on a "national championship" team is a negative. Here are the quarterbacks who have won the BCS game and entered the NFL: Tee Martin, Chris Weinke, Josh Heupel, Ken Dorsey, Craig Krenzel, Matt Mauck, Matt Leinart, Vince Young, Chris Leak, Matt Flynn, Tim Tebow. No NFL success there, really, except for some flashes from Young.

Richard Todd, to be fair, was more mediocre than the others in your group. He had some good moments with the Jets, as well as more than a few bad ones.
