I'm a longtime fan of Squeeze, so I was amused by Tim Curry's menacing cover of "Take Me, I'm Yours."

 

This is *such* a good song, and "Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town" is still a whale of a good album. Then you look at who plays on it and the light dawns.

I was listening to the local hippie radio station this morning while doing some semiskilled porch repair. They had a show featuring Arkansas-born country artists, and they spun this tune.

That sounds like Floyd Cramer on piano. I can't verify, but Cramer did some work for the Sun studios at the time.

Here's the song that turned me into a fan. And in listening to the YouTube version again for the first time in a while, I had forgotten he connected it to his dad's terminal cancer diagnosis.

 

Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets posted a new video on YouTube today.

 

It is a travesty what Carrie Underwood did to this song in the latest SNF open.
