    Split Enz were a great band that, like the Jam, just missed the MTV peak. They lived on to an extent as Crowded House through Neil Finn and Paul Hester but were a shadow of their former selves.

    You're right, they had that quirky look - and some brilliant songs - that would have made them huge on MTV if they'd come along a couple years later.

    This is as good a song as there was in the 80s:



    I saw an incredible Neil Finn solo show in Toronto in 2014 that was loaded with Enz classics like that one, Message to My Girl, One Step Ahead and History Never Repeats.

    My annual reminder to @PCLoadLetter that I saw Split Enz open for Tom Petty in Toronto in 1981.
