sorry for my ignorant, but why is his not stickied anymore?

  2. Fans of Neko Case, Feist, and Keren Ann should check out Emma Pollock's new disc - Watch the Fireworks. She's opening for Spoon and New Pornograhers on their current tour together.

Has anyone checked out P J Harvey's new one [White Chalk]? Her voice sounds completely different. It creeps me out at times.

Thanks, I will check her out.

Just heard an amazing acoustic version of Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars on my cable TV music stations. I guess it's off the Grey's Anatomy Soundtrack, but I've only heard the regular version. Makes the show sound even more crybaby, but I really like this version.

I'm a sucker for acoustic versions.

I've been a fan of Brian Setzer from his Stray Cats days, through his roots rock period and big band days. If you're a fan you may want to check out his latest, Wolfgang's Big Night Out, which puts a big-band spin on classical stuff like Beethoven's 5th, Flight Of The Bumble Bee, the 1812 Overture and Sabre Dance. It's different but there is some cool guitar on here.

Lone Star Speed, thanks for posting about Emma Pollock. I actually like her a lot. Thanks for guiding me to her.
Sports Predictor, you may want to check out Simply Acoustic, which is a compilation of artists doing acoustic versions of songs. Fantastic and I highly recommend it.

I realize that I need to check my testicles at the door here, but how do people feel about that new Rilo Kiley disc? It's poppy as shit, but I feel like Moneymaker can be some sort of strange stripper pole anthem.

Much like the last time I went to a strip club and some girl came out to Muse's "Knights of Cydonia." That was weird.

How about a song that you just recently started liking after it's been out for years and years?

For me, "It's Good To Be King" by Tom Petty is that song.

And Cosmo, don't worry about liking Rilo Kiley, but that avatar means you've got to give up your Man Card. :p

forever ... Kramer needs to dance to get a job in L.A. It happens. :D

It's Good to Be King comes off Wildflowers, which is in my top 5 in albums of all time. Love every freaking song on that record, especially Crawling Back to You.

I've never heard anyone else pay Wildflowers that kind of compliment, but I wholeheartedly agree. Definitely one of the top 5 albums of the 1990s, and yet no one ever seems to mention it.

I'm too lazy to check for myself, so I'll just await a response ... Did "Wildflowers" come out before or after the greatest hits album?

If it was after, I suppose I should give it a listen. I've also heard very good things about the new one, "Saving Grace" methinks.

Unfortunately, I'm too cheap to buy many CDs anymore and I have a very shitty computer, so downloading stuff is pretty much out of the question. So I'm stuck buying the album several years after it drops or hoping I can burn it from someone else.

I got the REM Live double disc last week and it's really good. I don't listen to much live music, but I love REM live, so I think the discs are fantastic.

But even better is the DVD with performances from a couple Dublin concerts several years ago.
