I'm very excited to see Ben Folds in two weeks. And I'm really hoping he plays a lot of old stuff, because his new record blows.

Just discovered the Avett Brothers, who are pretty damn good. They sound like a bluegrass band that decided to change styles but couldn't afford new instruments.

And, at the risk of losing my hipster music snob card, I downloaded Josiah Leming's EP on iTunes. He's the kid who tried out on American Idol, living in his car and horribly sabotaging his own appearance on the show during Hollywood week. He's still painfully earnest, he still lapses into a fake British accent... but damn, the kid is genuinely talented.

And an addendum on one of TSP's favorites: Butch Walker has a couple of new singles on eMusic and iTunes and they're both damn good.

Butch's new CD is out on Nov. 11 -- Sycamore Meadows. I'm a bit worried the album won't rock out as much as his previous. I think he's been giving his best stuff to others lately. Like producing for Pink and Avril Lavigne. Pink's last two albums have been dynamite, and Butch's fingerprints are all over them.

I really dug Ben Folds' new song w/Regina Spektor.

If you want your hipster cred back, maybe the Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist can help you out. Good soundtrack, horribly implemented in the movie.

I hope you got Emotionalism, PC.

It's an amazing album -- thanks for helping me find it, EMusic -- and a great place to start. The first track "Die Die Die" is easily my favorite AB tune.

Meh...most overrated album of the year. I was expecting much more from it than I got. Is it better than St. Anger? Duh...what isn't? But is it on par with Cliff-era Metallica. Not even close.

My fave metal disc of the moment: Watain's Sworn to the Dark. I saw them live last Thursday and I've been listening to it pretty much nonstop since then.

The new Amon Amarth [Twilight of the Thunder God] is pretty sweet too.

I think the new Metallica is very good. No, it's not the classic stuff but I'd put it on par with And Justice

That's the one. Love "Die Die Die" and "The Weight of Lies."

Also found it through eMusic. I noticed a lot of Pernice Brothers fans were downloading it, so I checked it out too. Man, do I love eMusic.

See, so would I for the most part. People just have to realize that James' voice has changed over the years, he'll never have that same sound from Justice, Black Album etc. Bob Rock pretty much screwed that over from happening again.

Anyway, hidden gem on that new CD might be All Nightmare Long. It's got a good driving guitar to it and the drums are crisp. Also, James' lyrics are pretty damn good.

I know it came out a little while back, but My Morning Jacket's "Evil Urges" is amazing.
