    A pox on you, sir!

While I only downloaded Deerhunter the other night, I'm digging it so far. There's a bit of a post-OK Computer Radiohead feel to it.

Some others I've discovered on eMusic the past few months:

Brett Dennen - Hope For The Hopeless
Ra Ra Riot - The Rhumb Line
Dr. Dog - Fate (We All Belong is worlds better, though)
    The Format - Dog Problems
Greg Laswell - Three Flights From Aldo Nito
The Walkmen - You & Me

I just had a coworker send me some videos of this band. Haven't gotten to 'em yet because I can't stop listening to this new Raconteurs album. It's unbelievable — and it's even better with headphones. Best album I've heard in years.

FF is OK, nothing spectacular though. I feel the same way about Bon Iver ... I hear background music. Critics hear brilliance. I just don't get it. Sounds a lot like Badly Drawn Boy to me.

Raconteurs -- up for a Grammy for best rock album. White Stripes have won several Grammys. Wonder how many front men have earned Grammys for more than one band. Doubtful the Raconteurs will win as they are up against Coldplay, though.

Loving Ida Maria right now, esp this song:

    I like Coldplay and DBT.

    What does that make me?

    Incredibly conflicted.

Of course, I like Pantera and Kasey Chambers, so go figure.

OH MY GOD I can't imagine I'll hear a better new artist than this guy: Tim Brantley.

He's traveling with Ari Hest next month, which has immediately become a must-see show for me.

This guy should be a must-listen for you. Unbelievably good. He's a breakout candidate for '09:

New supergroup formed featuring Taylor Hanson of Hanson, Adam Schlessinger of Fountains of Wayne, James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins, and Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick. Sure to put listeners into a power-pop induced sugar coma:

Just saw this last night. This could be really freakin' good. I like just about anything Schlessinger is involved in.

I agree, PC -- could be outstanding. I've said all along that one or more of the Hanson kids would eventually do something great. I love Fountains of Wayne, and I've always felt Iha's solo record was underrated. Can't go wrong with a nice dose of power pop, a la Material Issue.
