He played a long-ass version of "Try" last night that rocked. Played more DBT stuff than solo stuff, but probably because of the proximity to Athens, i.e. Truckers country. Played "Outfit" which is my favorite DBT song, as well as "Goddamn Lonely Love" and closed things out with a long, rocking version of "Never Gonna Change." Pretty damn good show.

    I agree.

There are a few great tunes — "Kind Of Girl," "Messing With My Head," "Nothing To Me," "Cha Cha" — that make up for some of the album's filler.

I'm going to be away when Jason comes to my town. I'm bummed - I could listen to "Outfit" and "Goddamn Lonely Love" on continuous loop.

Any Eminem fan check out his first album in almost five years yet?

"The Ecstatic", Mos Def's long-delayed fourth album (or fifth, if you count "Blackstar") is pretty nice.

Evanescence founding members hire Amy Lee soundalike Carly Smithson from American Idol and name the new band We Are The Fallen:

And I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Evanscence's second album was called The Fallen, and Ben Moody left the band soon after it was released.

I'm wondering if My Bloody Valentine will sound as loud when they play outdoors at the All Points West festival. I wouldn't want to live near that park when they play "You Made Me Realise."

I've been listening to this track called "Politicians In My Eye" by a band called Death. Over and over.

The band was a group of three black dudes from Detroit who cobbled together some quality punk rock in 1975. Had a meeting with Clive Davis and were going to get a record deal, but the record label wanted the name of the band changed. The band said no. Game over. Recording of album ceased. Everyone goes their separate ways.

Thirty four years later, somebody finds these old recordings and finally puts them out. I almost wish they hadn't because I want more of this. Shit was a potential game changer, man. Just imagine if you will if these guys turned urban black America onto punk rock. Sheeet. Hip hop might just owe its life to this band's downfall.

Grizzly Bear's Veckatimest and Telekinesis' self-titled are my two favorite albums of 2009 so far.

Here is Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks." Is this chamber pop? Is it something else? I don't know, but what a fantastic song (and fucked up video):

Telekinesis' "Tokyo" is just plain fun:

Listened to some of Grizzly Bear when it popped up on my iTunes Genesis app.

The last two days I've been listening to the Heartless Bastards. Saw them open for Wilco last month and will see them open for Jenny Lewis tomorrow night.
