The Best Coast album samples I've heard are pretty decent.

One album I just discovered on eMusic was the Young Veins' debut. It's not original whatsoever, but a decent rehash of 60s Beatlesque pop.

You had to throw that in there again, didn't you? :)

Glad to hear it was a quality show, the Toronto date got some solid reviews too. Might have to look for some boots from this tour.

PC, heard the new Crowded House album? Pretty good stuff.

Another new one I can't recommend highly enough is Street Songs Of Love by Alejandro Escovedo. Just outstanding.

Pimps And Preachers by Paul Thorn (a guy who once fought Roberto Duran) is pretty solid too.

The Old 97's have a four-song EP of covers out now in advance of their new album. It's OK, decent rip through the Stones' "Rocks Off".

On Tuesday, Arcade Fire's "Suburbs" pops. Getting good buzz from the songs played on tour thus far. First American non-Obama gig since October '07 in Boston Sunday.
Also looking forward to new Interpol product very soon (bummed at losing their July Lupo's gig in Providence after U2's tour postponement forced them to reshuffle their own dates along the way).

I have The Arcade Fire w/Spoon next Wednesday and The Gaslight Anthem (w/special guests, and because of where it's at, I'm holding out hope that Bruce will be one of them) at the end of September.

There have been so many good new releases this year, my favorite to this point is probably "American Slang", differing slightly from others on this thread. It's not as good as "59 Sound", but seeing as how that was my second-favorite album of the 00s, that's a tough thing to measure it against.

I'm going to the Arcade Fire/Spoon show in D.C. on Friday. Never seen them live -- didn't really get into them until the last couple of years, and it's still a work in progress (I didn't embrace the majesty of Neighborhood #1 until early this year when I associated it with a tough time in my life, and now I can't not play it). On the Gogol Bordello Scale, how crazy are their shows?

From the realm of "American"/alt-country/whatever you want to call it, here's a man who sounds like he's channeling Joni Mitchell. And that's not a bad thing!

The song is called "Beg, Steal or Borrow" and the band is Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs. Cool song.

EDIT: Meant to say "Americana." ::)

For those fans of that wide-range of music called Americana, I'm seeing a great double-bill Saturday....

And Thursday night's Webcast is the ass, with Terry Gilliam directing, interactive features, and the promise of special guests.

Cue up The Boss - they've been doing "Keep the Car Running" as an encore, and after seeing the clip of Win, Regine and E Street together three years ago, that song fits Bruce like a glove.
