I don't know what Gnarls Barkley is ... but has anyone mentioned The Guano Apes? How about Toronto's Evans Blue?
Really liking the stuff both of them have out right now.

Bit of a tangent here: There's been a lot of talk about the Peppers' new double CD. Personally, I'm not interested; the few songs I've heard don't sound unique at all. However, I was downloading "Down by the Seaside," my favorite song off "Physical Graffiti," which I think is the greatest double album/CD of all time. Anyone else got any nominations?

Shooter ... I agree on Gnarls Barkley. No idea where all the hype is coming from. They don't sound like anything special to me at all, especially knowing what Danger Mouse did with the Grey Album.

I sometimes have a general aversion to bands that get crammed down my throats by people, and by people I mean Rolling Stone magazine ... hey, you're SUPPOSED to like these guys! The Arctic Monkeys fall in this category. The Hives and The Vines both did a few years back. So does Fall Out Boy. I kind of feel that way about The Raconteurs, and I like the White Stripes. But because Jack White is in the group, it should automatically win a Grammy or something.

"Steady As She Goes" certainly didn't blow me away. A good rock tune, but nothing earthshattering. The second single on XM ("Together," I think?) caught my attention a lot more. Fun tune.

I've only heard two of the Chili Peppers' new songs (Dani California and Hump de Bump). After hating Hump de Bump with a passion the first time I heard it, I'm kind of warming up to it. Weird.

i think her two best records are "you are free" and "the greatest", so i recommend starting there.

Excellent list, but I'll argue with you over "Mellon Collie". THAT'S an album that would have made a fine single disc if they had trimmed all the overblown, overdone junk.

It's not a traditional double album, it's more of a compilation, but Gram Parsons' 2-CD anthology is incredible.

Thanks. The Greatest is actually the album I was asking about. I confused one of the song titles, Living Proof, with the album name. Anyway... Thanks.

Only because I found it at the bottom of the hamper (don't ask): Spacehog - Resident Alien. "In the Meantime" is a great tune; one of the best rock singles of the late 90s. "Zeros" (sp) is also a very good track.

  12. My two favorite double albums:

    Neil Young - Decadence
    OutKast - The Love Below/Speakerboxxx
