I just heard of her this morning thanks to a Bob Lefsetz email. Listened to one song and thought meh, but I'll try more when I get a chance.

Currently listening to Matthew Sweet and Susannah Hoffs' Under the Covers Vol. 3. Interesting cover of R.E.M.'s Sitting Still (music is spot on, but, man, the difference in vocals throw me for a loop). Interesting variety of bands to cover, from the db's to Kristy MacColl to Tom Petty and The Smiths and several other English bands.

I don't really get the point of their covers albums. Everything is a note-for-note cover of the original -- they sound like karaoke tracks to me -- and their voices aren't particularly interesting or distinct.

I like both of them -- Matthew Sweet's "100% Fun" is a great, great album -- and this latest volume of covers includes 4 of my absolute favorite songs. They're not terrible, but they don't really seem to have much of a purpose.

Muse is so much worse than OutKast and Arcade Fire.

Return of the 'Mats! Cool, although I'm still holding out for a Catherine Wheel or Lush reunion one of these years.

Another bit that goes nowhere, but 30 minutes while I was waiting to go dinner wrought this for 'Seinfeld' fans and lovers of bad, goofy music:

Want to get a John Lee Hooker album, iTunes has a lot of greatest hits collections, cheap. But I'd rather have a quality album. Looking for recommendations for a quality collection.

John Lee Hooker and his contemporaries weren't too focused on making albums in the same sense that rock and jazz musicians were.
