Saw The Walkmen last night. Absolutely stellar.
If you haven't checked out "A Hundred Miles Off", do it. The album is great and the guys are great live.

FYI: Pearl Jam will be on VH1 Storytellers at 10 p.m. EST on July 1.

    Carry on.

Question: The first single off Tool's new album sounds like 20 other songs they've done. Is there more variety on the CD as a whole, or is it more of the same?

If you've bought Tool CDs before, then you probably know this one. And too much noise between songs.

  5. Been listening to a band called Meese lately. A local group (for me) out of Denver. At first listen, they sounded like a Coldplay ripoff. But it didn't take long for me to realize Meese was a whole lot better. They've got a nice, melodic indie sound. I think they're the best current Denver band, much preferred over The Fray.

The Decemberists are another band I've been listening to a lot lately. They're definitely out there.

The Greenhorns' song on the Broken Flowers soundtrack spurred me to buy a compilation CD the other day. It's OK. Well, better than OK. Kind of like a more-modern version of '60s rock and roll from deep in the hearta. The type of music that would keep one interested in a bar while sucking down a few beers.

    Scale of 1-10: 6.75.

The Greenhornes are a pretty decent live act, I saw them a couple of times when they were still a local bar band in Cincinnati.

Anyone here listened to ViperHouse? Outstanding music. The former lead singer Heloise Williams is magnetic.

No ViperHouse on iTunes ... so no go for me.

That is a crying shame they're not on iTunes. They're from Burlington, Vermont, but have played bigger venues. Heloise Williams, I believe, has worked with Trey Anastesio.

ViperHouse, circa 2000, was at its peak before Heloise went solo. I'll go looking for something you can download.
