Finally downloaded the Muse record today ... like what I hear so far. The first song sounds kinda, uh, Queen-like. Which is cool. Nothing wrong with Queen ...

Bought the White Stripes' "De Stijl" on vacation. Great blues rock without the WS twist, and a heavy Blind Willie McTell influence. Proving that you don't need 47 instruments to make a lot of noise.

  3. That is a strong record, but missed by a lot of folks b/c it was released before TWS really "hit."
Jack proves you can do it with a cheap-ass guitar and a below-average drummer!

Hahaha. I think "De Stijl" is the Stripes' best album.

If you want a cool appreciation of the Stripes, rent "Coffee and Cigarettes." They have a vignette and are tremendous. Love Megan's personality in the vignette. Jack's kinda cool, too.

Bob Marley's youngest son. At the 2006 Grammy Awards he won Best Reggae Album for Welcome to Jamrock and Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the song "Welcome to Jamrock".

    I recommend "Welcome to Jamrock"

They haven't made a bad one yet, but White Blood Cells is probably my favorite.

I've heard Welcome to Jamrock since it's on FIFA 2006 (Newcastle's taking home the EPL title this year, BTW).

So is the Lupe Fiasco record as good on whole as the two singles I heard on XMU?

Another shame song, from top to bottom:

My wife was watching So You Think You Can Dance? last night, and while I cowered in the corner, these jackholes danced to thirty seconds of what sounded like a very cool song: "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap.

She is apparently the singer for Frou Frou, as featured on the Garden State soundtrack. But in "Hide and Seek," her voice is so altered, it doesn't really sound like her except in gasps. No instrumentation, or at least very little. Just her voice, synthesized, and according to my iTunes, I've listened to this goddamn song 18 times since downloading it last night. Couldn't tell you why I like, and for sure some folks would hate the hell out of it, but it's one sweet, unconventional tune.

Joe Bonamassa. Guitarist. His newest album is called "You and Me" If you want to listen to quality blues-rock music, even with one Led Zep cover (Tea for One), this album is great. Bonamassa also kicks ass live.
