Roots kicked some ass on Letterman last night.

Saw them in Pittsburgh about three years ago...they still have it.

Huggy, great call citing the pre-Budokan work. Just unbelievable -- and underappreciated -- stuff, particularly their '77 debut. In my eyes, "He's A Whore" and "Oh, Candy" are two of the better CT tunes.

Picked up two CDs recently -- G.Love's "Lemonade" and OutKast's "Idlewild" soundtrack.

G.Love has a great jazz/alternative sound that's never disappointed me. Thing is, he continues to have more guests appear on tracks. Jack Johnson and Ben Harper are the most notable among them this time, to no surprise. (Harper and G. Love helped Johnson on the Curious George soundtrack.) Great summer-sounding CD ... don't know how else to describe it.

As for OutKast, they keep dropping hints that they're going to break up soon. And they only appear on a track or two together. That said, it's a great CD. I especially love "Morris Brown."

Next CD I plan to pick up is Ludacris, whenever that drops.

Meant to ask if anyone had any thoughts on Idlewild. Thanks Oz.

New Mars Volta sounds fantastic, at least what I hear on XM.

Idlewild, ehhhhhhhhhhhhh. It's good but not even close to the last Outkast album. I doubt I'll be listening to it oodles of times.

Anybody listen to The Game's new single One Blood? I've said this before and I'll say it again. The Game, lyrically, is the best rapper alive.

You were wrong before, and you're wrong now.

I can't pick one. But I can pick one it's not. And that's The Game.

Not much of a rap fan, but I've always considered Nas a "dope" (sorry, corny white boy syndrome) lyricist.

  9. Stop hatin' on the Game.

It's not really "hatin'" if the guy doesn't deserve the accolades.

I'd put Mos Def, Black Thought, Dre (Benjamin), Kweli, Jay Z, Nas, the Abstract Poet, Common, and the Five Foot Assassin first...and then I'd have to think of the other 20 MCs tighter than The Game.

The last three Outkast albums, including Idlewild, are literally dog shit compared to Aquemini and ATliens.
