Chesney live CD, released yesterday, is excellent. Target has a DVD to go along with it, a pretty cool behind-the-scenes look.

chesney is wack, face it. what is he? a Weekend at Bernies extra? a wannabe Jimmy Buffett? A country singer? A straight man? A man who can right a song about something other than summer, the beach and getting drunk? A man with a full head of hair?

Thought about downloading the Lupe disc ... listened to the snippets on iTunes and it's, well, REALLY out there. And that's not a bad thing. I totally dig musical exploration, and I'd go as far to say after just listening to the 30 seconds or so of each song that Lupe is the hip-hop equivalent of the Mars Volta. Just crazy shit that you listen to once and go "what the fuck!" and then go back again and again and go "damn, this shit is tight."

I'll probably get it eventually. "I Gotcha" is one great song, though.

Heard a song I'd not heard in a very long time the other day ... "Ship of Fools" by World Party. Would seemlessly fit in with what's going on now.

Random shit that XM 75 set me up with: Mason Jennings (see quote), Turin Brakes, Isobel Campbell/Mark Lanegan, Guster (which I forgot I remembered) and a song I liked but I didn't get to the display in time.

I'll continue to pimp The Mars Volta on this site --"Visceria Eyes" and "Meccamputechture" just freakin' R-O-C-K. The album takes a couple of spins to grow on you.
And I'm setting myself up to be shunned, but I'm a bit disappointed with the new Dylan album. I think the songs are kind of dull and they go on for way too long. I've listened to it a couple of times and I was nonplussed. And I really like "Time Out of Mind" and "Love and Theft" a lot.
