Viscera Eyes is awesome. Heard one of TMV's songs sung completely in Spanish on XMU the other day and though I couldn't understand a bloody word he was saying, it was still pretty rockin.

Disc I listened to on the way in (and will be listening to on the way home) - Lucinda Williams' "Sweet Old World". I forgot just how good this disc is.

Someone told me to check out "L.A." by Murs and I liked it. Anyone know whether the rest of his stuff is worth it?

Also, it's weird to hear E-40 on the radio so much after he stayed underground for so long.

  4. Murs and Slug (Atmosphere's leading man) have a supergroup called Felt. They're latest CD is pretty slamming.

"The Lost Crowes," two unreleased albums by The Black Crowes, came out last week. "Band" is the better of the two, very rock 'n' roll, while "Tall" sounds like an underproduced "Amorica" (with many of the same songs).

    rhymefest -- blue collar
hip-hop ... dude runs with kanye

headlights -- kill them with kindness
trio from illinois .... female vocals .... kinda orchestral pop-rock songs

    m. ward - post-war
    exceptional singer-songwriter

the black keys -- magic potion
    nasty blewz

sparklehorse - dreamt for light years in the belly of a mountain
pop songs for the slightly troubled

lupe fiasco -- food & liquor
    mo' hip-hop

yo la tengo - i am not afraid of you and i will beat your ass
veteran rock band rom NJ .... been around for (smokes!) 20 years

    hmmm .... i know i'm forgetting stuff

I've never heard of a single one of those bands.

What kind of music is covered there?

Pretty broad range of stuff -- Lupe Fiasco and Rhymefest are rappers (I think they're both down with Kanye West...like they've guested on his records or helped him produce tracks)
Sparklehorse and Yo La Tengo are alt/indie rock bands that are pretty melodic. (Yo La Tengo once did some shows as Ray Davies' backup band)

Oz -- Murs is one of my favorites. He's got a ton of material. I don't think Felt is the best of it. I can upload some stuff for when I get a chance...

Rhymefest ain't so good. Lupe's shit was cool. There were a lot of good songs that didn't make the album though ..that leaked on the advnaces and whatnot. I'll up some songs when I get a chance?

I downloaded some Lupe stuff (including a guest with Ghostface) that wasn't on Food & Liquor that was just excellent ... Spray Paint I think was the name of it.

For those who like good folk/indie rock type of stuff, the Margot & The Nuclear So and Sos album is tremendous.

  11. Has anyone heard J Dilla's "The Shining"?

I have Donuts and liked it a lot. Same basic idea?

I'm digging Pete Yorn's "Nightcrawler." While not as good as his debut --"Musicforthemorningafter" -- it's not far behind.
