Here's another vote for "aha shake"...and i believe their 3rd album should be surfacing soon.

    unrelated: live REM from 1985...

Just picked up Jay-Z and The Game today. I'm liking Kingdom Come a lot more right now, but it's a worthy follow-up for The Game, despite Dre's absence.

Z all the way. The first KOL album was better in my opinion. But Heartbreak was still good, just didn't move me to give it as many listens.

aha all the way -- z is something you have to work at. i like it fine, but don't find myself craving it, like i do both kings of leon albums. i mean, shit, now i'm gonna break it out and listed to aha

So far, it's 2 votes for Z and 3 for Aha Shake. At this point, the winner might end up being whichever CD is cheaper when I buy....Thanks for the opinions everyone. Keep 'em coming if you're so inclined.

  7. Z, no question.
Kings Of Leon's first album was a fun little thing, but it really wore thin quickly, and Aha was just more of the same.
MMJ is incredible. Check out their live album, Okonokos.

If you have Comcast and OnDemand, you can watch a My Morning Jacket concert. I don't remember which one, but it was pretty good. It made me wonder why I haven't purchased any of the albums.

In the words of Diddy (still Puff Daddy at the time, I believe), "Escobar season has returned."

The retail version of Hip Hop is Dead, the new Nas album, finally leaked today. It hits stores on Dec. 19.

I don't care who you are, what kind of music you enjoy or what you think about rap: Nas is the easily best lyricist alive, and if there was ever any doubt, he proves it on the new CD.

i shudder to think anyone can quote a Sean Combs line, other than "uh huh, yeah".
Good Doctor - i've not heard Kingdom Come personally, but i have been told it's not that good, at least for the expectation surrounding it.
Cradle Robber - seeing "clipse" and "masterpiece" in the same sentence makes me laugh. i used to read the Source and got into XXL when it first came out, but once they started getting so heavily involved in the industry they're supposed to "cover" or "report" on or whatever they call what it is they do...they lost all credibility with me. i dont trust their reviews for that same reason. I can't stand Pharrell, his rhymes or his beats - so I stayed away from Clipse the first time around.
I loved Jeezy's first album and will pick up his second.
I'll agree with the Nas comment, with one caveat - Rakim doesn't really make solo albums. The 18th letter/Book of life was underrated and I thought, really, really solid. The Master kind of sucked...and obviously the whole Dr. Dre thing never really worked out.
I think Mos Def or Talib Kweli could give Nas a run lyrically though...but I will definitely get the new album. i'm glad it's actually coming out rather than being pushed back to give Jay another month or so of run..

If he was such a great lyricist, I would have to imagine that he could come up with an original title for an album.
