I saw Warner Hodges, the guitarist for the Scorchers, do a house concert a year or so ago. His daughter and granddaughter live here. Anyhow, he told a story about the band opening for Dylan for several weeks. The first three or four dates they didn't play Sweet Marie because they were intimidated and worried that he wouldn't like it. Dylan came to their dressing room and asked them "Why aren't you playing my song? I really like that version, it's one of my favorites." So yes, they played it from then on...

Jason and the Scorchers was one of my go-to bands to see for loud, stupid fun back when scrunchies were queen and I wasn't asleep by 10:30. Little did we all know their lead singer would go on to be Farmer Jason.

And here he is with my mother's favorite fellow healthy junk food buddy. (She has no idea who he is other than that nice young man who likes the same kinds of things she likes from "that hippie store.") Edited to add: There's another thread favorite from Nashville in this video.

The brunette in the red sweater and school-girl uniform was my best friend's girlfriend. We thought she was such hot shit for being in that video!

Thanks for posting these, Sunshine. "Tough It Out" has always gotten a fair amount of air play on the main classic rock station in Jackson. And "A Million Miles Away" is absolutely my favorite song by Rory Gallagher, especially the live version on his Irish Tour '74 record.

He's awesome, I first came across him listening to various Clapton Crossroads Festivals. He has done some great stuff with Derek Trucks.

So many of the artists I really love listening to today are because music critics would get so many CDs sent to them and eventually tell us to come and look through the big piles. It's how I discovered Bob Schneider and Darryl Purpose -- two artists I've already posted in this thread.

Jane Kelly Williams is another artist I found in the stacks and gave a listen to. Really some great songs by her.
