that's really cynical - "generally misogynstic" - and not fair. one party favors the right of women to choose - the other doesn't. one party favors social programs to help single mothers - the other doesn't. i could go on indefinitely. yes, it's important to build consensus, but you don't do that by lumping everybody into one cynical barrel. as a women, you should be very clear-headed about how damaging the republican platform is to you. of course there are nice people registered as republicans, but what they support is not nice. and i will say it again - the hostility toward jemele hill on this site is rooted in something far deeper than journalism.

You're right about Jemele Hill, but it has far more to do with society in general than Republicans or Democrats. You're just too damn stupid to figure out why.

Oh, and you can go fuck yourself.

it's relative, buck. misogynistic compared to 30 years ago - no way. (some) men have come a long way, baby. misogynistic compared to some abstract ideal - perhaps. my argument is that if the GOP were not pandering to misogyny we'd be much further along.

that's how i see "broader societal issues" - through a political lens. i'm a pragmatist. that's my take on human nature.

you may view issues non-politically - at your own peril.

hey pragmatist, why don't you change your name to something more pragmatic -- say a name that isn't someone well known in the business

  7. sportschick, you're an idiot. You're like that one dumb blonde in my English class boasting to all the people around her that day after Bush got elected the second time. She didn't realize how badly that screwed over the country at the time. She doesn't realize her party hates her. She was too braindead to realize that her party cares about her (1) vote, (2) pussy, and absolutely nothing else about her. Looks like you're the one that's too stupid to figure out why, not henryhecht.

okay, i'll grant you that politics has a philosophical foundation - people choose their politics based on deeply-held beliefs about life, morals, etc. for instance, one of the ideas underlying the GOP for over 100 years has been Darwin's "survival of the fittest". one of the ideas underlying the blue party since the New Deal has been that "we're all in this together - we're only as strong as our weakest link." so sure, you can go deeper than politics - but you might not like what you see.

The really funny part of his incredibly bizarre post . . . I'm a well-known board lib. Quite possibly the most leftist member of the board.

Course that's coming from a guy who outed an alleged victim and called her a whore, so go figure.

Oh, and Junky . . . I never said the GOP was better for women, just that rape went far deeper than political affiliation. It's a deeper societal problem, one that your now-deleted post illustrated perfectly.

EDIT: Also interesting that you'd chose to refer to me as a dumb blonde. Bit sexist and misogynistic, don't you think?
