I hate this so much. It's such a terrible precedent.

Agreed. But I don't hate it as much as I hate this.

Yeah, let's punish Joey Logano for something he had nothing to do with.

They had to do something else it makes NASCAR look like Olympic badminton. Or wraaslin'.

It pretty much is, with the way NASCAR makes up the rules.

This is about as much of a smackdown as you can ever expect from NASCAR, and I'm glad it happened. I do feel bad for Truex, though, and I'm sure NAPA is pissed.

  7. What, exactly, did Truex do to earn punishment?

  8. I agree.

Maybe they should have yanked Bowyer from the Chase and given the spot to Newman.

But they were punished the same. 50 points.

Just so happens one driver was near the "cut line" and one wasn't.

Same thing if a pair of golfers are each penalized two strokes, and those two strokes happen to cause one of them to miss a cut, while it causes the other to drop from, say, 9th to 14th.

  10. What did Truex do to cause the caution?
He benefited from MWR chicanery, but I don't think he had a part in it, unlike Bowyer and Vickers and the others.
I agree, he shouldn't have been allowed to reap the rewards either.

Bowyer gets off waaaaay to lightly.

Don't be surprised if more than one driver accidentally bumps Bowyer at some point during the chase... NASCAR drivers are very good at policing themselves.

Reminds me of the tweet I saw yesterday from the very-good @nascarcasm account:

"The penalty to the #15 will be assessed on track by the #24 car at a time of his choosing."
