I can definitely see that happening.

Says a lot about the sport that the last post previous to this one was May 27th.

At least NASCAR figured out a way to get people to talk about the Chase.

I don't agree with the punishment at all, as I said, but Martin Truex Jr. certainly had something to do with what happened. He was the reason for what Bowyer and Vickers did.

Granted, if you have teams, then you should allow drivers to drive like teammates.

  4. So does Bowyer's fan base take a hit?

I used to like the guy. Now? Piss on him.

    Agree on Bowyer.
Seems like Paul F. Menard pulled a similar stunt for Richard Childress Racing a couple of years ago at Richmond, didn't he? Wasn't Bowyer driving for RCR at the time? I wonder if anyone from RCR at the time is now with Mickey's team and suggested seeing if lightning could strike twice.

This. And it would truly be fitting.

I think Bowyer's reputation takes a hit, both on the track and in the stands. Anyone who actually knows the real Mikey ... well, he didn't have a good rep anyway. (I honestly don't think you can lay this on him personally, but if MWR takes a beating, I'm good with that.)

Bowyer's rep will take a huge hit. Seemed like a good dude "from Emporia, Kansas" (I think racing talking heads get a kickback from Emporia, you hear that so often) but from what I read today he played dumb in interviews and did not do it well. Granted, he can't exactly throw his owner under the bus, but he should have just owned it.

As Ryan McGee said, his day at ESPN was set up long ago. But he does (and I do) give Bowyer credit for showing up despite knowing he was going to get it from all angles.

He didn't handle it the best, but at least he didn't feign sickness.

  10. OBTW:
They have mentioned Menard's "stunt" at RIR a good bit recently, but honestly, this is the first I've heard any serious mention it. It wasn't a big deal then? Nothing happened a result?

If NAPA and 5-Hour Energy bail, that would icing on the cake.
One of the people caught up in this shit storm is Truex. It was the Bowyer and Vickers team that did the dirty work, and Vickers himself is clean.
