Stewart now has 4 Chase wins. Edwards has 0.
    Edwards still leads the points.
    Great system NASCAR.

Hey, it worked for Kenseth before 5-Time became even 1-Time.

Still a flawed system-chase wins should have more weight, seriously.

NASCAR tweaks the chase so often, it's become a joke. I'm sure they're thrilled they have a tight race this year, but the fact Stewart has 4 wins and Edwards has 0 in the chase yet still leads is ridiculous.

I preferred the old system because I think a champion should have a body of work over an entire season, not just a playoff run (St. Louis Cardinals), even if it meant sometimes you had a guy stroke his way to the title or it get decided before the final race of the season.

I would tweak the old systems in terms of points awarded, more points for victories and cut the points positions off at about half the field.

I agree with more points for wins pre-Chase. If they wanted to combine the old and new system, they could throw out the 12 qualifier rule and give double points for wins in the final 10 Chase races.

When the idea for the Chase came about it was like "oh, this gives more people a chance to win" but by my way of thinking, if you are 8th or 10th or 12th or whatever with 10 races to go, you don't deserve to be running for a championship.

I hate the NHRA's Countdown, too.

In theory, if the points rewards for winning the last 10 races were much higher, it would give more drivers a chance to win without overly limiting the importance of past performance. You'd still have to have been in at least the top 15 of the points standings for it to give you a real chance.

Agreed. But that makes sense, which is why it was never approved by NASCAR.
I believe under the old system the most points you could get per race was 185. If the second-place guy led the most laps, you would both get 180 points. It always seemed to me the winner should get 200 points.
Oh, and it was funny watching the Toyota commercial over the weekend with Kyle Busch "singing" about working for the weekend. Oops. An extremely talented driver in terms of driving ability, but like his brother he's missing it between the ears.

Per Jayski, which has the NASCAR news release, Kyle Busch was fined $50,000 but can race the next two weeks.

    On another note....

I'm really not a Tony Stewart fan at all. But I'm deeply impressed that he's won four of the eight Chase races to this point and is thisclose to becoming the first owner-driver to win the championship since Alan Kulwicki.
