Nashville Predators moving to Canada? NOPE! Sorry, Canucks (and KC!)...

I've worked many games at the JLC and I don't see a whole lot of room for expansion there.

Haven't been to Copps for a couple of years but last I was there - for a Bulldogs game - it looked like shit. Maybe it's the multi-coloured seats or the suites that have seen better days.....

Sorta like downtown Hamilton. The armpit of Southern Ontario.

Bulldogs are in the Calder Final. Wonder if they'll get more than 3,000 out to any of the games?

I agree with you much more than I disagree. The NHL definitely has to reconnect with its niche. In fact, if the NHL could legally remove Bill Wirtz and Jeremy Jacobs, that alone would make the NHL about 100 times more important in the U.S. than it is now.

We're talking the same language. Just with different accents. :)

Wirtz and Jacobs have destroyed once great franchises.

Looking at this map of Canada--[IMG]--I'm wondering if Balsillie moves the Preds to Quebec City. Or would he beforced to pay an indemification fee to the Canadiens?

    HB,

It's 250 kilometres (150 miles) from Quebec City to Montreal so they're out of the indemnification area.

Reminds me of a funny story.

Had a couple of authors where I worked who had flown from LA to Quebec City to do research on the Titanic.

They phoned at 10:00 a.m. and wondered whether they could drop by for lunch that day.

We had to explain that Quebec City was like, a 9 hour drive.

There's already a team in Quebec. It's called the Montreal Canadiens. Oops, that's me being a smartass. After the Quebec Nordiques did little to nothing, I can't see why they should put a team in Quebec City.

Winnipeg I can understand. There's also Hamilton.

    Sigh.

Again, Quebec significantly outdrew Winnipeg every single year. If I were the NHL I'd gladly go back to Quebec. Winnipeg would have to get in line behind Houston, KC, Seattle, and probably a few others. And frankly, I don't think the NHL has any business moving to those cities, either.

And expansion -- particularly into the Sunbelt -- may be the single dumbest thing the NHL could do at this stage. (And yes, I realize that probably makes it a lock, given the way the owners think.)

Yeah, except after the Nordiques moved to Colorado they won a Stanley Cup.

    Winnipeg and Hamilton are non-starters

    K-W is Balsillie's choice I'm sure and it's a no-miss.

And Big Dog, true to fashion, chimes in with an irrelevancie.

    Did Boom pre-approve your post?

HB, I wonder about those numbers.

Didn't Detroit have a problem selling out their playoff rounds? I heard (maybe incorrectly) that attendance was down in Hockeytown because of their boring style.

And I suspect the Nashville numbers are way overinflated.
