That surprised me too, but when the bronc came out like that, I was more worried that he was going to get caught in the shoot. It was one of those holy fuck moments.

And the guy who was in front of him...I wasn't sure if they were EVER going to get that horse out of the shoot. He simply did not want any part of it.

Ten rounds, final round is Saturday night.

Wenders: Trevor's won five all-around titles (not counting this year), as near as I can piece it together. Won the triple crown (AA, steer roping, calf tie-down roping) last year.

@Jeremy: Agree on the 53. Seems strange at the time but given the likelihood that Harris will buck off at some point, it's hard to argue with the decision. There's no new Jim Sharp in this field. Hell, Glause and Schumacher still haven't made the whistle.

Welsh is being smart. You have to take that in a 10 header, especially because he's in the world title hunt. Smart leads him by 30K. All Welsh needs to do is win another round, have smart get bucked again, and keep sitting high in the aggregate and that title could be his.

Does Luke Branquinho only wear black? All the other cowboys are wearing pink and Luke wore a black shirt with a pink band around his arm.

I've even got the shirt to prove it.

Great story behind it. I did a story about PRCA's "pink night" last year for the paper I was working for. Compelling stuff. Here's a little background on it.

Could have been a sponsorship issue (and as a reformed Copenchoke user, I'd like to say that it really is time for U.S. Tobacco to go).

Several of the barrel racers and a couple of bull riders wore other-than-pink last night, too.

Helluva a run by Lindsay Sears' horse in the barrels. If she hadn't wiped out a barrel in the second round she'd be leading the average. Probably won't be an obstacle to winning the world championship, though.

Billy Etbauer is now down two head in fifth (and down one head to the guy who's second in the saddle bronc money). And it was nice to see Mo Money win the bull riding last night.

Sears is fine in the world standings. She'll be in the money the rest of the gos and win a good check for her place in the aggregate.

From the wire: "Sears has a $61,779 lead over second-place Brittany Pozzi-Pharr of Victoria, Texas. Sears has earned an event-high $73,557 at the NFR."

And Sears had another huge night tonight. Barrels are over.

Saddle bronc looks to come down to the last ride this year.

    EDIT:

World SB standings after eight rounds:

    1 Billy Etbauer $204,194.98
    2 Cody Wright $203,064.71

Wright is currently second in the NFR aggregate, while Etbauer is seventh after back-to-back buck-offs.
