Triples are making a comeback as park are having more deep cavernous parts in them. Comerica, Minute Maid, and Citizens Bank Park all provide ample places for triples. But Kaufmann Stadium leads the MLB in most triples at a park.

Good grief! To paraphrase the late Silvio Dante': who ever wins 'dis, Tone, is gonna win it by a c**t-hair.

I'd hate to fall victim to the "What have you done for me lately?" syndrome. I think we may be in for a split MVP. Damned if I can decide.

In the last game to put their respective teams in the post-season

    Holliday - 2 for 6, R, 3B, 2 RBI, 3 K
    Rollins - 2 for 3, 2 R, 3B, RBI, BB, 2 SB

    Tough one.

Just remember, there are no extra innings if Holliday doesn't grossly misplay a fly ball in the 8th inning.

Rollins, by the slimmest of margins.

Speaking of extras, am I the only one who sees Holliday winning the National League RBI title as fraudulent? After 162 games, Ryan Howard had more RBI. Holliday used the extra game to pass him.

I never understood why one-game playoffs like this count in regular-season statistics rather than post-season. Can anybody shed some light on that?

I'm sticking with Rollins for my vote, because he is a shortstop and giving some consideration to the Coors Field effect. I know Rollins plays in a great park for home runs, too. But that's not all that Coors Field does. Coors is huge, so in addition to the way the ball flies out and the way pitches don't break as much, there is also a lot of territory for hits to drop in.

When it's close between two guys and one of them has started 162 games at shortstop, I'll take that guy. J-Roll is your 2008 MVP.
