And we can't mention hate without talking about one man, the man I loathed more than anyone in the 1980s, even though he played about 6 minutes in the Finals:

    M.L. Carr.

The towel. Putting the hand up to his ear. The shrugs. The choking sign to Worthy. The hatred.

It's sort of similar to how it was in the 80s in that in 1984 the two hadn't met since 1969. So that sort of revived the rivalry for a new generation (the 60s nearly killed my dad and uncles as they suffered through humiliating defeat after crushing defeat at the hands of the Celtics). Now it's been 21 years and it could be happening again, though obviously in the 80s people had been anticipating it ever since Bird and Magic's rookie year.

Speaking of the 80s, here's the end of the Sixers sweeping the Lakers in 1983.

Go right to the end of this video and watch Maurice Cheeks - classy Mo - go in for a dunk with a second left and the Sixers up by 5 in Game 4. Again, I don't have a problem with this, they were pumped about finally breaking through. So maybe Sasha deserves a little break.

OK, I never post on NBA threads, but I had to mention that I'm watching ESPN and Greg Anthony just said Kobe was the most dangerous player in the history of the game, no disrespect to Michael Jordan.

  8. Yeah, but here's something to keep in mind: Greg Anthony is a moron.
