Actually, what Anthony said was Bryant was the best offensive player in the history of the game, which may be true since he's always been a better 3-point shooter than Jordan was.
Even though I'm a Lakers fan, I still believe Jordan was better than Bryant. However, if Bryant wins a couple more NBA titles with this young Lakers team, and his mid-range game continues to improve as his quickness fades (much like Jordan's game later in his career) I don't see how you can't compare the two as being No. 1 and 1-A all-time.

Of recent vintage, the winner of "Most Annoying Bench Jockey on a Contender" was Mateen Cleaves, with the 2002 Sacramento Kings.

    IM BACK!!!

OK now all of you Kobe none believers out there can shut up the performance he put yesterday to wilt his team to the NBA finals. For the first time since 2004 when they lost to the Detroit Pistons in 5, but none the less he is the MVP and thats the type of performance that they put during clutch games like that one yesterday.

Kobe put on a clinic at the end of the 4th quarter. He made the sweet dish to Gasol, then several (as someone else pointed out) midrange shots in or near the paint.

Gasol came up big on the defensive end on Duncan. What a find by Kupchak. Wonder what the Bulls are thinking right about now as to whether he could have helped them "get over the hump."

Also liked the defensive scheme by the Lakers to not show double on Duncan until late and force him baseline where Odom lurked coming from the weakside box bringing two bigs to double.

Lakers look unbeatable, especially in light of the past Celtics/Pistons performances, but then again they looked like a juggernaut in 2004 also.

Kobe is seriously in the conversation with MJ now. Kobe is a couple of rings short (3), but he's got a realistic chance of passing him by if the Lakers hold on to their current team.

As for Vujacic's shot, do you really care if you lost by 5 or 8? (Well except if you were laying money. BTW, anyone know how the bookies can be that fine? Within a half point? DAMN, that's almost as amazing as engineering the Phoenix Lander)

  10. Can someone please translate this to English?

Does it matter to the Lakers won by 5 or 8? You're missing the point. It's not about that making it an 8-point game added insult to injury. It was just completely unnecessary to even attempt a shot at that point. The Spurs had waved the white towel. They weren't playing defense and they were just waiting to get the game over and congratulate the Lakers. There's just no need to take a gratuitous shot right there. What are you trying to accomplish? Pad your stats? Rub it in? Basketball doesn't have nearly the amount of unwritten rules that baseball does, but I've always considered that to be one of the more clear ones.
