Just because it was rape when you were anally penetrated doesn't mean it was rape when Bryant penetrated her.
    Fucker.

This should be a great series, and as a longtime (back to the late '70s) Lakers fan, I'm excited that it's against the Celtics.
Too bad Chick Hearn and Johnny Most aren't still around.

I really want to see what kind of television ratings the Finals do this year. If you're the NBA and ABC, you couldn't dream up a better matchup right now. No excuses for this series to not have ratings through the roof.

The only one I can think of is that it'll be football season by the time they get to game 7. This thing needs to start tomorrow, Monday at the latest.

And, I can't believe the Celtics pulled that game out. I was convinced they were gong 7. At least everyone can stop harping on the road woes, they just went 2-1 in "one of the toughest places in the league to play." This series is going to be fun as hell. The Garden is going to be rocking on Thursday. I think the Lakers are a little better, but I think it's foolish that they've been largely written off. This series goes at least 6. But I'll predict C's in 7.

I think the Lakers have a better bench, but I'll take Pierce, Garnett, and Jesus Shuttlesworth over Kobe, Gasol, and Odom every single time.

If I'm KG and/or Kendrick Perkins, I'm licking my chops at being guarded by Gasol. Garnett needs to take it to the hole a lot more often than he has.

No prediction from this Lakers dork. I'm just happy the franchise is relevant again.

But I love the fanboy assertion that "I'd take Garnett, Pierce and (Allen) over Kobe, Gasol and Odom every single time."

    Who wouldn't?

Lakers bench is better. Celtics top players are better. But Kobe's the best player in the series.

    I wouldn't.

    Neither would I.

Kobe, Gasol and Odom have way more tread left on their tires.

I'd call it a toss-up, but even if you'd take the Lakers what does the tread on the tires matter in a single series after everyone has a week of rest?

Anyone with any insight onto how these teams will match-up?
If you go by position you'd have:
    1-Fisher/Rondo
    2-Kobe/Allen
    3-Odom/Pierce
    4-Radmo/Garnett
    5-Gasol/Perkins

But I see no way that's how they match up and I can't remember what they did during the season, though I don't think Gasol was even in the equation for those meetings. I just don't see Allen covering Kobe but who the hell else could you put him on? And on the flip side, I don't see what the Lakers do against Pierce and Allen. I think I'd rather have Kobe on Pierce but do you really want/can Odom chase Allen all game?

I'd give Fisher a slight advantage over Rondo because of experience. I think Rajon is the X-Factor for the Celtics. If he plays well and does his job, Boston has an excellent chance. Rondo is a far better rebounder and passer than Fisher, but Fish is a better shooter. His three-pointer has to be watched for at all times and he's a better free throw shooter as well. Rondo has the defense, quick hands, and athleticism edge, so it'll be interesting to see how this goes down.

Kobe obviously wins over Ray. But Allen played perhaps his two best games of the postseason in the final two against Detroit. He was stellar in Game 5 and extremely good in Game 6. How will his shooting be vs. the Lakers? He has to be better for Boston to win. And can he try and somewhat limit Bryant? I'm guessing they'll put Pierce on Kobe for stretches as well, which would be wise. Pierce vs. Odom - edge goes to Pierce, who has played the smartest basketball of his career over the past few weeks. Odom needs to have a better series than he did vs. the Spurs.

Garnett in a landside over Radmo. Gasol vs. Perkins is interesting because one might automatically say Gasol very easily. However, Perk has been a minor revelation against the Pistons, while Gasol struggled quite a bit against the Spurs. Pau can be exposed defensively, and I think it'll be part of Doc's gameplan. I'd still take Gasol, but not by as much as some would say.
