Lifelong Lakers fan and I don't have a good feeling about it. The key I think is how Gasol plays. He's shown a tendency to relax and he's not a bruiser. The Celtics are. And when he AND Odom falter, bad things happen (see Game 3 against the Spurs).

Also, the 2-3-2 format is a big disadvantage for the team in the middle. Trying to "hold serve" at home and you have to beat a team three times in a row. There's a reason it's happened only once 23 Finals.

I'm thinking Celtics in six as well. Unfortunately.

This post is ridiculous. You could have posted something like this two weeks ago, but didn't beating Detroit in six, including two games in Detroit basically poke holes in a lot of your points? The Hawks series was like two months ago. You can't say Rivers or Pierce or Garnett or Allen can't get out of the first round. Not anymore so people need a new thing to harp on. You could have called them frauds if they lost in the first two rounds, but I think making the championship basically eliminates the fraud factor.

You may be right ... but there's no proof that he raped the monkey to get to said balls.

The Hawks, Cavs, and Pistons aren't much worse than the Nuggets, Jazz, and Spurs, regular season records be damned. Playoffs are a different beast. Atlanta played with the heart and grittiness that Denver would kill for, the Cavs made the NBA Finals last season and have the most talented player in the league, and the Pistons are, in my opinion, the third best team in the league this season.

"Grittiness" doesn't make up for being eight games under .500 in the regular season. Utah would mop the floor with Cleveland, and San Antonio is better than Detroit.

Used to doubt Gasol but after playing 1 on 1 against one of the best post players in the last 20 years to get to the Finals, he's more than proven his toughness.

He did play him, but not exclusively 1-on-1. Plus, Duncan averaged 22.4 pts, 17.2 reb, 2.0 blk, and 4.6 ast. If getting worked over by one of the best post players in the past 20 years makes you tough, Gasol's an enforcer.

ATL played with passion. Denver did not. The Hawks believed they could take it to the Celtics. The Nuggets folded as soon as they stepped on the floor.

If LeBron was hot and getting some consistant help from Z/Delonte/Wally, the Cavs could inch past Utah in a series. And Detroit vs. San Antonio is a crapshoot, both were incredibly inconsistent for having played together for so long.

It's irrelevant however. It's going to come down to can the Lakers win in Boston? Because I'd be shocked if the title wasn't decided in Game 6 or 7. These are the two best teams in the league and there's not a whole lot of separation between them.

Doc would be insane not to tell Garnett to expose Gasol. Fuck the jumpers and go to the basket.

the only remorse i'll have for rooting for boston, and if they win, is bostonbred.

Yep. The interesting thing to see will be if Garnett can do that in a Finals the way Duncan has in the past.
