But, I'm a Kobe fan, so I think the rules of this board mean we can't be cordial to one another.
    So ... F-U. ;)

  2. Can't we just go back to taunting the Boston fanboi?

Kobe for MVP and Finals MVP. He finally gets one without the big guy there. He is still the best player in the league and I'm not even a Lakers fan.

The Pistons losing in the first round would be outstanding.

Thankfully you put that second part to your post because steals is one of the most overrated stats in basketball and is a completely arbitrary way to determine a player's defensive ability.

Yup. All it takes to get a steal is to get into the passing lane and knock a ball away or deflect an errant pass. It still takes quick hands, but it's not the end all for defensive players.

Steals certainly don't tell everything about a defense.
Denver led the league in steals, but my grandma could go for 30 on that porous defense.
How did Marcus Camby win defensive player of the year last year? He looks clueless in the middle in this series.
That Kobe guy isn't bad, either.

Because it was last year and the awards are voted on in the regular season.

It just baffles me how he can win a defensive award for a teamthat bad defensively.
That team wasn't exactly a lockdown team last year, either.

Steve Nash won the NBA MVP for two consecutive years and his team never won an NBA title. Defensive MVP awards aren't based on team's success. They are based on the individual. Camby was a monster last year.

Yeah, but it still was a call based almost solely off of stats. Camby gets a lot of his blocks by being out of position to begin with. He isn't a terrible defender, when he wants to defend, but no way he should have won that award last year.

Bostonbred ... Celtic Pride was on the other day. If the Jazz and Celts battle in The Finals ... is there something you'll be wanting to tell us??
