Oh no doubt after their hot start they definitely deserved some hype. But I recall several outlets and analysts the DAY after Garnett was traded saying this team would walk to the conference finals without any issue and the only real challenge they would face all year would be maybe Detroit and whoever got out of the West.
Deserved hype? Yeah. But anytime this team plays on ABC/ESPN you get to see 18 Garnett Gatorade commercials, four or five "Big 3" Sportscenter commercials and several other NBA promos with Garnett blowing the cloud of rosin everywhere. This group's been overhyped from the start, and I'm not saying it's their fault by any means.
All I've said all year is that they look amazing on paper, will have a great regular season -- but until they do it when it counts, they're just another team. And so far, they're just another team.

As for the game, they clearly play better at home and have came out with some urgency here as expected. But Atlanta's just missed SEVERAL open looks. If they can get a few of those to fall they'll make a run, if not, we'll start up the LeBron vs. Celtics hype machine and have a whole other conversation to discuss.

I always like how a seven-year-old kid is sitting there no doubt listening to the expletives fly all over the place.
    The NBA: It's FANNNNNNNNNNNNNNtastic!

    well, it's been real, hawks.

PS- doesn't really matter now, but hell, just attempt to make some baskets. might be kinda neat.

I'm really hoping he doesn't snap out of it, but it must be said: Josh Smith looks scared. Nerves is one thing, but he's having trouble even holding onto the ball on routine passes.

It's still early king! Don't bail on your boys now.
Though not finishing a dunk against PJ Brown (who appears to be wearing his age on his uniform) has to be a bit disheartening.
Just yanking ya PJ, he's always been a solid guy.

Boy that promo really tells it all right there. Celtics guys saying we've got to win no matter what, Hawks players saying ... we'll see.

Just read your other post rube. Believe me, I'm hoping they build this league as big as possible right now, because there's no way the Hawks play like this all day. I'm just hoping the margin is too great to overcome by the time they wake up.

Either way, Game 7s in the playoffs are unbelievable.

You got that straight ... as a Celtics fan, you've certainly seen plenty.

Ray Allen is REALLY off. He just missed a wide open 3 that he probably makes 80 percent of the time.

Not mattering ... Atlanta looks like the Grizz out there right now. Give Boston credit, they're playing stout D, but good God Hawks. Go to the rim.

Wow this is rough. Atlanta needs to find a way to somehow get this to around 10 at the half or it's curtains.

If the Hawks can get to within 10-12 points at halftime .... then 6-8 by the end of the 3rd quarter, then the Celtics MIGHT start feelin a little pressure. I don't think that's asking too much from the Hawks. They just need to take a deep breath, relax and embrace the boos.

Edit: Ya beat me by 18 seconds, rube. ::)
