Hell, not just no Nowitzki, last night they had no Dirk, no Shaw Marion, no Elton Brand, and STILL won. The Mavs are winning with some remarkably pitiful lineups this year.

You've got the best ball distributor in the past 20 years and you run the Princeton offense making him a spot up shooter? Dumb. I think some of this is on Kupchak though, that is one weak bench. Only real even average player is Hill. Others are just flotsam; Jamison? Blake? Those are great guys, but they cannot create their own shot. As much as I despise Jamal Crawford's game, he'd be perfect for the Lakers off the bench, scoring while the starters sit.

Was there some thought last spring that Jeremy Lin was milking his injury to skip the playoffs? Mitch Lawrence of the Daily News writes:

Monday night in Houston was originally one of those must-see, circle-the-date games for NBA fans, as much as it was for Jeremy Lin. Because that was the night the former Knick phenom was going to see if he could so much as dribble the ball up the court against the Miami Heat.

Lin couldn’t execute that basic function when he ran into a top defense that couldn’t wait to halt Linsanity dead in its tracks last February. Then when he had the opportunity to try his luck in the playoffs, he took a pass, citing (ahem) continued problems with his knee.

Only Lin knows, for sure, if he could have played against the Heat in May, but he looks smart for staying off the court. What LeBron James and Co. did to him in Miami heading into All-Star weekend is still the talk of NBA locker rooms.

I don't remember hearing much of that. I also think it's a little strange to say the guy's whole rep came crashing down because he didn't play well against the champions. He played 14 games after that and was still pretty good.

The anti-Lin boner so many New York writers Still have is so absurd.

Nothing against Phil Jackson, but I would rather see Jerry Sloan get a shot at running the Lakers. (Unless he doesn't want to coach again).
