Sloan was very successful with 2 bigs; but then again so was Phil with Gasol/Bynum.

Wolves improve to 5-2. No Rubio or Love all year. Barea hurt a few games ago. Budinger hurt last game. Roy hurt two games ago. Pekovic hurt tonight. But still best seven-game start since 2001. I don't know, maybe Lakers should have hired Adelman over Mike Brown last year. They're going to be really fun to watch when healthy.

Great LeBron game tonight: 6 in the first half, 32 in second on road to beat Houston by 3.

Moot now, but Sloan is 3 years older than Phil. And I doubt he wants to coach again.

The Christmas Day games are going to look awful. Every team is wearing a monochromatic uniform designed by adidas:

Pretty sure the guy behind Bynum is embarrassed for him.

Budinger's out now, what, three or four months? I agree Adelman is doing a tremdous job with the group he's currently got. Minnesota could be SCARY at the turn of the year.

Conversely, Lawrence Frank is struggling to convince his Pistons to play defense. Yielded 39 fourth-quarter points to Orlando Friday night. It's still early but my statement on the first or second page of this thread pertaining to Detroit is looking ridiculous.

Kevin Love comes back early and gets a double-double, but the Wolves still lose to Denver at home. Minnesota is doing what it has to do while waiting to get healthy. That frontcourt is pretty good.

Spurs send Duncan, Ginobli, Parker and Green home a day early from 10-day road trip, having them skip tonight's TNT game at Miami. Popovich wants them rested for Saturday home game against Memphis.

    David Stern promises major consequences.

How cool would it be if the Spurs win tonight? They're leading, 27-22, after one.

If I'm a Heat ticket buyer I'm pissed. Doing this is a travesty to the fans; they buy tickets to see a team's best, excepting for injury, not because there are strategic reasons for throwing the game.

Stern better get the teams to understand that otherwise they are going to truly kill the golden goose. Imaging if the Heat told Charlotte fans, sorry we're sending LeBron/Bosh/Wade home.

What can the NBA realistically do about it, though? Is there a rule that says you have to play X players Y minutes if they're healthy/otherwise available? Stern is making a lot of noise about sanctions, but I'd be shocked if he can actually follow through on that threat without opening a Pandora's box.

Besides, last season deputy commissioner Adam Silver (who will succeed Stern) said about the same tactic and same coach:

Baseball is a much less strenuous sport, and players are always getting a day off here or there.

Joe Mauer probably hasn't caught a Sunday game in 10 years. Tim Duncan gets the night off, and Stern wants to call in the National Guard.
