And then three nights into the protests, which did regrettably include looting and vandalism, some white militants packing long rifles showed up, pal around with the cops and then one of them kills two people

You know, I'm unsure if that is more unsettling or the kid with the AR driving to help out and kills a handful of people.

I'm guessing the police know they fucked up; I doubt this kid, or his ultra buddies, think he did anything wrong.

Still don’t know why this is being termed a boycott. It’s a protest. An admirable protest. The game has been postponed. It is not a forfeit.

Could be the season, yes. The NBA players, and other athletes, having done this, have to collectively decide if it’s a night of mourning and reflection, or if their return to their own sport comes with conditions that the Wisconsin and Kenosha governments must meet. (Trump sure as hell isnt going to meet them.)

If the conditional standard is Trump or Congress, the season is done.

Fundamentally, I support athletes’ right to do this. It’s their life, their voice. Hope it makes a dent in the problem.

I’m just wondering if the management of the Orlando Magic and their fan base care about conditions in Kenosha. I’m sure the players are in solidarity. Also, will Kenosha or Wisconsin officials care what the NBA does, especially since there really wouldn’t be any economic impact on Milwaukee. You would hope cops get arrested and reforms are made but I’m not sure they’re going to happen on the whim of NBA players.

The players probably don’t care what the fan base thinks - although I’m guessing a lot of the fans of the league agree - and management has to do whatever the players say - really on anything, but especially this.

What happened in Kenosha did not affect me personally.

The coronavirus has not affected me personally, other than sending me into a bit of a depression spiral because of an inability to socialize outside of a very tight knit social circle.

The point is that it doesn't matter if it doesn't affect ME. At some point, you have to have empathy for others and what they're going through. This is supposed to be a society. If you weren't affected by seeing the video of that dude getting popped in the back seven times with his kids watching, I don't know what to tell you.

But are they willing to make the ultimate sacrifice? Unwritten rules clearly say not to protest the policing shooting and paralyzing a man.
