Are you kidding? It is a long series my friend and correct me if I am wrong but people were calling off the LeBron slurpfest after he passed up a game winner then missed a game winner in game's 1 and 2 of the conference finals and we all know how that turned out.

According to espn radio this morning the overnight rating did suck... I think it did a 7.9 which would really suck (the 2006 World Series, which was the suckiest rating in WS history, did a 10.0). And if that sucked, the rating is really going to suck for sunday night, which goes against the Sopranos.

Don't take it personally, Chuck. The ratings for every sport suck, except the NFL and college football. It's just the way it is.

Before all of you guys right off the Cavs, I want you all to remember how important the first 2 games where for the past two finals. The Heat lost their first two in Dallas and everyone was ready to right them off. Or how about when the first two games for the Pistons during the 05 finals?

    Game 1: Detroit 69, SA 84
    Game 2: Detroit 76, SA 97

And what ended happening? The Pistons came back made it into game 7(and if it wasn't for a clutch Robert Horry 3, they probably would've won it).

Wait. Are you saying, Poindexter, that the worst World Series in history ratings-wise drew more viewers than last night's NBA Finals game? Surely ye jest. Our good man, Chuck, says that the NBA is more popular than ever, while MLB is stagnant and boring. Have you double-checked the numbers?

I don't wanna turn this into that type of thread, but I never siad the NBA was more popular than ever(but I did say the MLB was boring as hell). I said the NBA was going to be right up there with the NFL in the future.

I said the NBA was going to be right up there with the NFL in the future.

Thats just not ever going to happen, unless the NFL does something really stupid to shoot itself in the foot (actually it would have to be several things).

Again, I hate to parrot what the espn morning radio guy says, but its my belief too: All the playoffs except the NFL just take too damn long! 2 and a half months is too long. 7 game first rounds is too long. Spurs not playing for 8(?) days before the Finals is too long. The average fan (me) loses interest, big time.

And since ABC has had the coverage, they have the most plain, boring, vanilla coverage possible. Mike Breen is a flatliner.

After watching all the East finals games on TNT, I wish they'd get the NBA Finals too. I know it's a cable channel and not a network, but between their studio crew and having Marv call the games, it's just so much more enjoyable to watch a game on TNT than ESPN/ABC.

That's a good point(I do agree, the playoffs are taking too long). But with the kids interests these days being:
    1. a football
    b basketball
I think it'll be possible. Not to mention that basketball is becoming the "hot new thing" outside of the US.

    Oh yeah, no doubt.

They just do a better job. But keep it in the studio, boys. The post-game show from the arena in the conference finals blew.

After watching most of the game, I was most impressed with Jon Barry's tan.

I still don't know who won, and I still don't care.
But that doesn't mean I represent a larger group. I was in Philly for some of the Detroit-Cleveland series and people in the bars there were going ape shit for pro hoops.
Large crowds gathered around the teevees and they were all cheering on the Cavs.
