Good for him. He helped the Cavs a ton this year and deserved a look as a main man.

Shawn Marion to the Mavs in a sign-and-trade?

Not a move I'd make. Marion is a 3 and the Mavs already have Josh Howard, and they desperately need a starting shooting guard.

Unless they're looking to make a second move after this ... Hmmmm ....

Raptors sign Bargnani to five-year, $50 million extension. Yeesh. Don't like contract like this, paying for potential.

I have a feeling in three years it will look like a huge bargain.

It is a risk, but he is the #1 pick. You cannot just let him walk away. You have to see where those cards will take you in the poker game.

Marion can and has played the four, although quite unconventially. And he's so freaky, he can guard a lot of the league's fives.

I just don't think he's that good anymore. He was a guy whose career was made by Mike D'Antoni. I don't think he'll ever be as productive as he was with PHX, but he's still making money as if he will be.

Per Adrian Wojnarowski, the Spurs have just reached a deal with Antonio McDyess:

Spurs have got to be pretty close to being favorites in the West. I know McDyess is a role guy at this point, but that's a pretty solid team, especially if Bowen is bought out and comes back and they can get anything out of DeJuan Blair.

  8. Josh Howard shoots well enough and handles it well enough that he can play the two, which lets marion play the three. And with Kidd at the one, all of a sudden, that fastbreak looks very good with those two on the wings finishing. For all of the steps Kidd has lost defensively, he's still one of the top three pg's in the league when it comes to pushing the ball up the floor. I'm liking what the Mavs are doing this offseason.

Josh Howard can't play the 2 on a consistent basis

I agree, the Mavs look good on paper. Kind of old, but JET, Barea, Dampier/Gortat and I think Ryan Hollins coming off the bench, that team could be a top 4 seed out there.

  11. Josh can play the two for sure on a regular basis. My only question is whether he can guard that position, but he handles the ball all the time and makes decisions. and he can shoot it

I like Howard, don't get me wrong but he's a career 34% 3 point shooter and I really don't think he can guard the other teams 2
