The Mavs' big FA move? Chris Kaman for one year, $8 million. At least he and Dirk are buds on the German national team.

NBA salary cap remains at $58 million for this year. Luxury tax level remains at $70.3 million.

Kaman puts Dallas at $52.5M and Haywood will be amnestied if they can re-sign Mahinmi at a reasonable rate. Never mind that part. The amnesty hammer just dropped, and so has the $8.35M Haywood was due next year.

Money was never a hindrance to Mark Cuban before. I wonder if he's having a little Tom Hicks-like trouble.

I just don't think that he sees the value in over-paying for guys, and he's not really a big guy when it comes to long-term deals; that's why Nash originally left, since the Suns offered more years, IIRC. The marquee guy this off-season was Deron Williams, who they did chase but lost out on. So, I'll imagine they'll look at one-year stopgaps like Kaman with the rest of their cap.

Wooohoo, a 12-ppg slug who has missed 160 games in 5 seasons.

Plus, Mahinmi is a Pacer now, having been traded to Indiana for Darren Collison (a rapidly falling stock) and Dahntay Jones.

I think Jordan is right on this one.

I posted something on the Oly thread - I'd be willing to watch a video game simulation, but I think Barkley and Robinson would go off. James, Anthony and Kobe would cancel out Jordan, Malone and Pippen. Durant would cancel out Drexler - but Chandler and Love vs. Robinson and Ewing?

Woj tweeted that Griffin injured his knee, is returning to LA for MRI. Severity unknown. Davis was summoned to Vegas.

With the teams, I'd like to see this year's team beat Spain before I worry too much about their chances against '92. That said, of course they'd have a shot, even with the differences in interior personnel. Kobe/Lebron/Durant/Paul are not going to be taking pictures during the games. This ain't Angola, or even wide-eyed, overwhelmed Toni Kukoc.

I was 19 at the time, so I can romanticize history with anyone, but I'm with Kobe.

Don't know how you define "running wild", but prime Robinson/Ewing vs. Tyson Chandler is a huge mismatch. And 92 Jordan vs. 2012 Kobe don't "cancel each other out" either, that's also a huge mismatch (now, if we were talking 06 Kobe maybe.....).
