Throw in the J. Kidd DUI, the quote from Melo (""It's not up to me," Anthony said with a laugh. "It's up to the organization to say they want to match that ridiculous contract that's out there.") and I guess I can understand why Felton suddenly seems like an attractive option over Lin. Do they really think a Knicks jersey is all it takes for him to average more than three assists and three points per game over his career average?

Jeremy Lin's 15 minutes of fame are up.

I really wish USA Basketball would have chosen a different Olympic coach. Has nothing to do with my like or dislike for Coach K, but I have always believed that job should be a once in a career thing. Lot of deserving coaches out there.

Why? Because Houston just grossly overpaid him with a gigantic three year contract to become their new starting point guard?

Yeah, poor Jeremy, such tough news for him, he's finished now.

So that 1987 Canada Cup team would have trouble against today's players or is hoops the only sport where today's players would dominate the all timers of the past?

I'd rather have Lin over Kidd or Felton, at this point, assuming the medicals for him are OK. Given the stretch of play he put up, it would be really bizarre if that was just a fluke - Nate Silver looked at it, and at worst, he's probably an average point guard: http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/11/jeremy-lin-is-no-fluke/

I said in February and will say again.... Lin will be out of the league in three years. Nice story, just not a long-term one.

Has this officially been announced yet as a done deal?

The altitude helped but Beamon's record is still astonishing. He won by 71 centimeters. The triple jump gold medalist won by eight centimeters.

I believe the offer sheet has been signed by Lin, and technically the Knicks have a couple days to match. However, apparently there is a poison pill in the deal - The base salary escalates each year, to $10M in the final year, so if the Knicks did match they'd be over the luxury tap cap with the Anthony and Stoudamire deals already, I guess.

I went digging around on the 'net and found that. I just usually wait until something is done before I pay attention to reports. This one was further along and closer than I thought.
