If the Cavs lose, and I don't trust the Celtics enough to say when, it'll be the second time LeBron's lost with homecourt advantage.

Just to compare to two names like, oh, Kobe and Jordan: Kobe's lost one series in his career with homecourt advantage (2004 Finals). Jordan never did.

And if they lose, LeBron will still have one playoff series victory against a team with 50 wins.

That was a gutless performance. There's going to be some serious vitriol spewing for LeBron and especially Mike Brown around this town tomorrow.

I treat losing with home court advantage the same as losing in the NFL playoffs at home.

LeBron is looking an awful lot like Marty Schottenheimer's quarterbacks in the postseason...

At least Marty's QBs had fucking heart.

    Fixed.

The man's playoff failures happened with quarterbacks both great (Kosar) and not-so-great (Bono).

It's not like it was Elway out there going 98 1/2 yards in the last four minutes of the fourth quarter and Rich Karlis kicking the winning field goal 2 inches inside the left upright. It was more like Super Bowl XXIV.

    1. I hope the arguments about whether Ray Allen is a Hall of Famer are now over. He is.

    2. LeBron is in the midst of compiling a career playoff record that makes Nowitzki's look like it belongs to Magic Johnson. The MVP fails to score from the field in the first half of a fifth game of a 2-2 series? Disgraceful. Maybe he is destined to be a Knick, after all.

The Celtics were pretty bad at home this year. Cleveland's already beat the Cs by 29 in Boston during this series. I don't think it's quite over...

But here is the thing about this series - even if Cleveland wins Game 6 on Thursday, I can't help but think the Cavs would be gagging up Game 7 back at home.

This is a team so fragile "between the ears". They are a bi-polar basketball team, either it's all goodness and light or else they are on the verge of jumping off the ledge. Compare that with the Celtics, a team full of "old assassins" who have won titles before.

If Cleveland has any heart, they'll win Game 6.

If Cleveland gets their "head" together, they could win Game 7.

I can't see them getting both heart and head together.

Worth noting, as we line up to rip on James' playoff record, that the Celtics' Big Three had exactly three conference final appearances between them (one each) before assembling with the Celtics. And if I'm not mistaken, none were ever in position to advance to the Finals in an elimination game.

Michael Jordan waited a long time before getting a title-caliber team around him. So did Olajuwon . . . does no one remember the accusations that the Rockets tanked a season in the early 1990s?

So let's not condemn LeBron James just yet. Unless you want to wonder why a guy like that would shit the bed so horrendously in a Game Five at home.

Allen as a Hall of Famer?

Perhaps. Still not a slam dunk. Let's not act like the current rate of winning and quality playoff performances have been happening since his early days.
