Amare's nowhere near as mentally tough as Malone was.

FWIW, Artest did shoot 40% from behind the arc in his lone year in Houston. Unfortunately, that number matched his overall FG percentage.

And that's saying something. I wouldn't say Malone was the toughest mentally at his position, but he's a hell of a lot more than Amare.

I am, indeed, surprised at his decision-making. Saw him pass up wide open looks to get Gasol the ball the other night. You can tell he respects his teammates and the team because he's toned down his play considerably and is actually making conscious decisions on the court.

Speaking of the Lakers-Celtics, I think these teams are as evenly matched as one could hope for a Finals matchup.

    Bynum > Perkins

Gasol > Garnett (but he won't overwhelm him, and Garnett may surprise)

    Artest < Pierce

    Bryant > Allen

    Fisher <<<<<<<<<<< Rondo

Neither team has much of a bench, though I give the edge to the Lakers. (Brown and Odom are better than Davis and Wallace).

The idea that Fisher will do anything to stop or slow Rondo is amusing. Very amusing.

I think that will be as hotly contested of a Finals as we've seen in quite some time.

If Rondo puts up a triple double on Fisher, I'll gladly eat crow. Listen, I understand that Rondo will get his, but I still think Fisher's experience will help limit Rondo in some shape or form.

    Games again on Saturday.

The reason for the break is that the league didn't want a HUGE (possibly 12 days) layoff before the Finals if both series were to end in sweeps. The contract with ABC TV dictates the Finals start on Thursday, June 3 (No way would ABC bump prime-time programming during a weeknight in May sweeps). Even so, if both series were to go in sweeps, we'd be looking at more than a week of down time before the Finals begin.

I think one series is ending in a sweep. Nice effort so far by Orlando. Yes, the Celtics play good defense. But these are missing easy shots now. They are a mess.
