    L.A. Times:

Throngs of people arrived in downtown Los Angeles this afternoon as law enforcement officials were on alert for potential looting or violence after Game 7 of the NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.

Officials plan to close Figueroa Street between Olympic and Pico boulevards. More street closures are also possible.

Metro bus routes in the area are being rerouted, and it's possible that light-rail and subway service could be interrupted at the 7th/Metro Center station and other stops "depending on conditions in the area," according to a Metro press release.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said it might also shut down Whittier Boulevard in East L.A. if large crowds gather after the game.

Law enforcement agencies will also increase their presence along Crenshaw Boulevard in South L.A.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said "extraordinary measures will be in place" to prevent unrest.

Disastrous start for the Lakers. Not shooting well. Missing free throws. Taking awkward, off-balance shots. Giving the Celtics a ton of confidence. Long way to go, yes. But you can't shot 22.2 percent and expect to be in the game, and right now, they're not.

The team that led after the first quarter was 6-0 so far. I'll be shocked if it isn't 7-0. I don't know how often teams have won games in the Finals with a 14 point quarter thrown in, but I bet there aren't many, and I'll bet there were franchises in Rochester and Fort Wayne when it happened.

Maybe. But the team that has outrebounded the other is 6-0 so far. So something is going to give because there's no way Boston outrebounds the Lakers in this game.

The play in the first half has been terrible.

If this game make it into the 60's at the end, it would be a miracle.

This could rank as one of the lowest scoring halves in Finals history.

    Geez.

This is as bad as the last finals game 7.

I think it was 40-34 after the first quarter of Game 7 in the 1969 Finals, not halftime. That was embarrassing.

So as someone who is not as familiar with Phil Jackson's history as the rest of you on here, how good is he at making half-time adjustments, especially in a winner-take-all Game 7?

This one is as bad as the Game Sevens in both 1994 and 2005. Just ugly basketball.

Lakers are lucky to be within striking distance. Artest is the only Laker who showed up tonight.

I didn't think losing a Game Seven, with all he's accomplished, would have an adverse effect on Kobe's legacy. But if he finishes this game like he started it . . . the long knives of his critics will enjoy some justification.

Lot of game to go, but it's tough to think the Lakers win this one with Kobe jacking up shit and Gasol getting smashed inside.
