    Beats me.

But then, I've never been able to wrap my head around the "grind" that people say Triple Crown races are.

    Run 2 minutes . . . take 2 weeks off . . . run 2 minutes . . . take 3 weeks off . . . run a little over 2 minutes.

All three of those won at home to get to Game 6, not on the road like the Thunder must do.

Heat will try to become only the third team to win all three middle games at home since 2-3-2 (Heat in 2006, Pistons in 2004).

Apparently so. But I agree with you on that.

Good call ... I'm fairly certain they (DJ Stuey, that is) said the team falling behind 3-1 had never forced a Game 6, the context being that Thunder weren't likely to get another home game based on history.

The Suns fell behind 3-1 in 1993 and then rallied to win in Chicago, on the strength of Charles Barkley's "Let's Save The City" speech.

Of course, Lakers had already won in 1980 and '82 before their hearts were broken. And Bulls late '80s never made finals and never had Pippen.

Maybe OKC becomes the Jazz, a team with a couple of stars that contends for several years but could never break through and win it all.

Maybe. Maybe by this time next week, they're NBA champions. Not likely, but very possible still.

All of these maybes mean we should maybe stop trying to cram everything into a narrative about emotions and journeys and just let basketball players play basketball.

Nope. Can't say that. Must post in absolutes.

    LeBron CAN'T close.

    OKC CAN'T close.

Series is over. Nobody has come back from 3-1, so nobody CAN come back from 3-1. Of course, no one had come back from 3-0 in MLB until, well, someone did in 2004.

No way a team that won 4 in a row against a dynastic team on a 20-game win streak can win 3 in a row against a team with its star (possibly) hobbled.

    No way. Now how.

But OKC WILL win it someday.

OK, so in two weeks we've gone from "Erik Spoelstra is a moron who is getting outcoached by Doc Rivers and LeBron is a choking dog" to the Heat are one win from the NBA title.

If the Heat eventually win it, does that guarantee Spoelstra comes back next year?

What do you mean they "never had Pippen"? Pippen joined the Bulls in 87 and was very much a part of those late 80s teams that went down to Detroit.
