I don't know, did Gervin and English play alongside Bill Russell and Dave Cowens?

This simplistic "count the rings to decide who's the greatest" game of yours gets silly. You know what very often is the only difference between one player getting rings and another comparable one not? Just DUMB LUCK--landing on a team with the right supporting cast, having circumstances fall right into place, etc. Yet we're supposed to pretend it's because one has some innate winning character that the other lacks.

Hakeem is a great champion, but Barkley, Stockton and Malone aren't. Why? Well, because Hakeem's two best teams happened to coincide with the period when Jordan quit to play baseball. Lucky timing--that's the only real difference between those players.

In 07 Garnett was the choker who always comes apart in the playoffs. In 08 he's a great champion. Why? Because for the first time in his career he was given teammates like Pierce and Allen. Oh, but now he's in the winner's club--forget the fact that he's really the exact same player he was before.

Yeah he is by far the best 7-foot outside shooter. But despite his overall skill set Malone was a more dominant power forward. Malone averaged 2 more points per game and 2 more rebounds per game. Plus if we believe all the LeBron haters, Dirk's title came because LeBron couldn't close. Kind of doubt Dirk would've led Dallas past Jordan's Bulls.

This just took a strange turn ...

Great numbers during a time when the league was a lot more offensive oriented and on a great offensive team that played very little defense.

So unbelievably simplistic. Stony's post sums it up perfectly.

Good thing they didn't trade him.

So who is better? Stockton, Hakeem, Malone or Barkley? Are you going to line up the numbers again?

Funny how you never answer a question. What was the difference between 07 Garnett and 08 Garnett?

Hakeem is better, again, not because of the rings.

I have never been impressed with guys who light it up for three quarters or light it up in November, but when the stage becomes big or the game tightens up, they regress dramatically. In my opinion, Malone seemed to fall into this group.

You are assuming that I think Garnett is an all time great player. Paul Pierce was the main reason the Celtics won those titles. He was the only guy (and Rondo later on) who could create a decent shot for himself.

Fair enough, but that leads me to wonder why it took Pierce so long to win then.
