I agree. Nash should win, IMO. It looks like he will finish second, however.

Nash showed up for his team when they needed him in the playoffs but what did Dirk do is just plain and simple he choked up and that is not how an MVP should be like.

And Simon -- last year was a perfect example of why this team is flawed -- it was a year when the title was up for grabs because so many of the top teams had so many issues, whether it be with injuries to key players or coaching transisitions.

The fact that the Mavericks couldn't recover from blowing a 13-point fourth-quarter lead in Game 3 against the Heat, who, let's face it is one of the worst NBA champions we've ever had (it was basically a young superstar and the geritol crew) -- they went on to lose four straight after that -- said volumes about the teams heart and grit and character.

But it was put together by Nellie as a finesse team that scores a lot of points and is fun to watch -- and that's like all of his teams, which is why despite the fact that he is like second on the NBA's all-time wins list, he has ZERO rings. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, I don't think Nellie has ever taken a team to the NBA Finals but I'll look it up because maybe his 1983 or 84 Bucks team made the Finals.

In short, Nellie knows how to build teams that win regular season games and not much more. That point is not really one that can be argued.

UM, it's been two years. If he built a team that was so bad he's still being held responsible two years later, then surely it should have been addressed by now.

Or do you think perhaps that Cuban has such tremendous respect for Nelson that he doesn't dare tamper with the team?

    Couldn't agree more.

Oh, well. At least one company is ready to have MVP Dirk as its spokesman:

    I doubt that.

Who I really think should win the MVP won't get because of the race issue the NBA has.

His team's not good enough. I'm not saying that's fair or not, but that's how the NBA does it.

Look, as much junk as I give him, he's the most complete player in the NBA. Well, actually I would put him second behind a healthy Wade, only because Wade has really improved his defense and Kobe's D has suffered after the knee injury. LeBron's not there yet, as a shooter (although he has improved considerably) or as a defender.

Believe me, when the Lakers get good enough again, Stern and the rest will be falling all over themselves to give Kobe the MVP, IMO

I didn't say the team is bad, I said it is poorly constructed and flawed from the standpoint of winning NBA championships, which I think is the goal, though looking at many franchises I'm not sure any more.

And the reason Cuban hasn't "blown it up" is because you can't do that with guarenteed contracts, the salary cap and the strict rules on trading certain players. It isn't possible.

I'll say it for the third time and maybe it will sink in -- the core of this team was put together by Nellie and it is what it is. You have a team built around Dirk Nowitski and his talents -- that isn't going to be easy to change in a year or two. That's just reality in the NBA.

So if you are Cuban --- you are faced with two choices -- do a little tinkering and keep the core of a very good team - a team capable of winning 60 + games intact -- or tearing it down some and trying to rebuild it in a manner that will take it to the next level. The risk that comes with that is this -- you might take a few steps back.

And I'll say it again, Tim Duncan should have won the MVP.

The shouldn't matter cause with out him they would be looking at a lotto pick after the season ended. They wouldn't even been in the playoff picture this year if Kobe was not there.

Maybe so but I will still take Kobe over Duncan for this season.
