College basketball had changed slightly in the intervening years between Walton's heyday and Laettner's.

Everything that happened 30 or 40 years ago is better than everything that has happened since.

quite a leap over the nod to walton BY A MILE over laettner as a college force, but if you insist, have at it...

That would be so fantastic if true. I never thought I'd see "cuckold him" become part of a scouting report on how to defend a superstar.

Imagine the sign possibilities for tonight.

Walton had to walk to the arena...uphill both ways (why his knees gave out)...

    Laettner and them were coddled.

These days? All the players are given Escalades at orientation...

    Oh wait, that was UNLV.

Damn. Don't get why that wasn't a charge on Wade right there.

via Twitter, a sign in Dallas tonight...

    "Not 6, not 7, not 8.....points."

    Nice.

Dammit. Mavs get their first 30-point quarter of the series and Chalmers hits one from 40-feet to take the lead.

And I thought the one to have a hip problem in this game would've been Juwuan Howard not Dwayne Wade.

So LeBron has nine points at halftime. Add in the two-and-a-quarter that he is averaging in fourth quarters, and he's a lock to reach double figures. Strong.

It was a judgment call with D-Wade on one side and Brian Cardinal on the other. Which way do you think NBA refs are gonna lean?

Interestingly, Bosh doesn't get the benefit of the doubt :)

    He's no LeBron James.
