NBA Refs Suck

So is the Super Bowl fixed, too?
    And the World Cup?
    And the World Series?

All major sporting events that are close seem to have issues with refs/umpires.

Nothing to see here, move on.

Many NBA refs do not suck. Bennett Salvatore, however, does. His presence on the court in a Finals game is an indication of how Stern's control-freak needs have created as many long-term problems for the NBA as short-term profits.
I learned a long time ago that fans most resent the most competent refs. Joey C is one of the NBA's current best. If he blew a call (didn't see game, gotta sleep sometime), hey, it happens.

Now that I've slept on it (restlessly) and watched the TiVo, I''ve got a different take on the timeout.

Avery was the COY, and deservedly so, but I think he lost his head a bit in the overtime.

Avery said he meant to call it after the second free throw — but I saw him twice hopping up and down signaling timeout between free throws. What else was Howard to do?

What the hell were they doing playing Hack-a-Shaq when the Heat were not yet in the bonus?

Did anyone hear Avery dress down Eddie Sefko in the postgame presser? That's the second time this year he's done it. Eddie handled it as well as he could but he was clearly flustered.

And let's not forget Howard clanging two free throws at a clutch juncture in the final minute of OT. (Dirk missed a big one, too, late in regulation.) Maybe it never would have come down to the phantom call and the ensuing botched TO.

Just like in Game 3, the collar got just a little tight for the Mavs. The refs cocked up the end of Game 5, to be sure, but the Mavs made mistakes that cost them in both games, and let's not forget Flash's contribution.

FB... first time long time man, thanks for taking my call. I just wanted to say it's obvious that the Sox need to trade Man-Ram nowwwwwwww. I think maybe send him to the Cards and try and get Pujols to play first. Then we can move Youkilis to the Marlins for that Cabrera guy who wants out. What do you think?

    Not worth wasting breath on.

    Incredible.

And, ostensibly, these are professionals typing.

    Hey,
    Love the show
    Long time caller,
    First Time listener.

I think the Knicks the should trade Steve Francis, Malik Rose and Eddie Curry for Dwayne Wade.

The last caller stole my thunder. I think the Knicks should DEFINITELY trade for Dwayne Wade.

Pimp In The Box, what is up?!? I'm totally stoked about your next tour stop! War Larry Bird! I'm out!

EDIT: Should've kept the Stern thread going. We had a massive T-jack rocking.
