    Sounds good Hank.

I just did my recruiting online, but I can't tell if my light turned green. I'm RTA.

Speaking of, I have NO idea how the recruiting works. If anyone can give me a quick primer, that would be great.

    Quick primer:
BIG IDEA: Points are good. If you have more points towards a kid than everyone else, you'll get him.
You get X number of points a week. That number is determined by the perks you coach has as he levels up.
You spend those points on kids. You don't make specific pitches. You just spend them.
Kids also get "bonus" points based on things about your program. So if they care about being close to home, and you're close to home, you get bonus points. You get these points just for having the kid on your board.
The points you spend + bonus points = total points. This is how much your standing improves with the kid.
So, let's say you have a kid with 300 bonus points (a lot) and 500 points that you spent. You improve by 800 points this week.
Of course, other teams are doing the same thing. They have bonus points, and they're allocating some of their non-bonus points to the kid. So each week you can see how your standing with the kid improve/decreased compared to every other school.
If you're giving a kid all the points you can (somewhere between 500-700 non-bonus points - it varies based on your coach's boosts), and you find you're losing ground to another school, you should cut and run and find another kid.

    Visits
After a while, you'll be in good enough standing to get a visit with the kid. You schedule the visit. LATER VISITS ARE WORTH MORE POINTS.
You can also gain points on visits by scheduling complimentary visits. For example, a QB and WR visiting the same week are complimentary visits. This is worth a 50-point bonus to both kid's visits.
But there are also competing visits. This costs you 50 points. So two QBs visiting the same week are competing with each other. Their visit points go down by -50 from what they otherwise would be.
The last component of visits are position-specific goals. These also add points to the kid's visit. For example, RBs have a goal like rush for 100 yards. If your RB rushes for 100 yards in a game where an RB is visiting, your visiting RB gets more points towards his visit.

    Locking up a recruit:
Eventually, the point gap between the top school and the other schools recruiting the kid becomes so large, the kid commits.

    Thanks am.

So in my offline dynasty & this one, I've been splitting up my points. I'm guessing after reading your post, that may not be the wisest decision.

    Interesting...

BTW if you ever get this going, hit me up. Haven't played Civ Rev in ages. Never played it against a human. It'd be interesting.

Damnit, patterson got a concussion in the first quarter - out for game. going to hurt my heisman hunt.

Sans Patterson, I still rolled. It was kind of fun. Without worrying about Patterson's stats, I was able to mass-sub in my second team fairly early. Got to play with some of my younger players. Apparently a SS is my sixth or seventh WR. Got to throw him a TD.

I try to focus on team needs obviously, but also look at players that want to come to my school.

I may also try to grab a couple higher rated players (even if I'm not high on their list). I'll woo them and offer a scholarship right away, just to try to get them to pay attention. SOmetimes it works, more often it doesn't.

The first couple years I focused on positions, regardless of how many stars they were. Now that we're a couple years in, I try to get higher rated players (3 stars or more). I am seeing a few more four-stars showing interest this year.

Having won two league titles and a Rose Bowl title probably has helped me get some better players to take notice.

Oh and make sure you scout the players too. That can give great insight whether a player is worth it or not.

I'm not that good at it against human players. Seems like I always lag behind the others in terms of developing technology. I do alright against the CPU, though.

Maybe sometime when you, storm and I are online, we can play.

Oh, scouting is absolutely huge. Spend those points.

True, don't want to waste a bunch of time on busts.

Still had 200 rushing yards and four touchdowns, though.
