If you think having boosters pay the players directly will help you "get around" Title IX then you need to stop commenting on this because you don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about.

Blitz just threw a cat across the room.

Is it me, or does Chizik just come across as a slimy bastard?

He's always got this chickenshit grin on his face like he knows something that no one else does.

Were Cannon and Simpson ever ruled ineligible by the NCAA? Bush was eligible when he won, yes, but was later deemed ineligible, so they took it.

Doesn't matter. If integrity is important then Simpson and Cannon need to lose their trophies.

The Heisman people didn't strip Bush because of integrity. It was because he was deemed ineligible by the NCAA.

But if integrity is important enough to keep Cam Newton from winning it when he hasn't been proven guilty of anything then former winners who disgrace themselves need to be stripped of their awards as well.

Can't have convicts disgracing the Heisman.

But until something's proven with Newton, or until he's deemed ineligible, it's on the voters, not the Heisman Trust, or whoever it was that stripped Bush.

You're missing the point. You're comparing Bush with other people who lack integrity. Bush wasn't stripped because of integrity.

Integrity: That's for the voters to decide.
Ineligible: If so, the award will be stripped.

    Simple.

Be interesting to hear who Tim Tebow plans to cast his vote for in Heisman

From what I've seen, Cam really wanted to play at Miss State because he was close to Dan Mullen when Mullen and Newton were at Florida.

But Daddy's church wasn't gonna get all the way fixed if he went to Miss. St.

I've been tempted to throw cats ever since this story broke.
I am absolutely against turning other schools in.
This pay-for-play has been happening since God knows when, everywhere, in every conference.
You don't turn people in, unless there has been a death or something similarly catastrophic has come out of it.

And you certainly don't do it when the evidence is in any way flimsy or hard to substantiate.

I am not sure of who did what, but the most pressing question I have is: If State indeed turned information of this nature over to the SEC or NCAA back in January, why is it just now coming out?
The NCAA or the conference should have issued a statement of some kind within a month or so of receiving the info.
They should get it out there that an allegation has been made.
Not wait 11 months and allow a media outlet to break the story.

Furthermore, if Mullen or anyone affiliated with MSU "turned Auburn in" you can bet I'm pissed about it.
Same thing if it was any other coach that tried to push the story.
It's not supposed to happen. All the coaches of major college football know there are kickbacks and offerings to student-athletes everywhere.

My opinion is similar to what a former Auburn assistant once said, that coaches should try and keep these sorts of sour grapes recruiting issues "down home".
