I hate Butler too. But I love every other mid-major.

Yes, how dare teams play in a fashion that best utilizes the talent at their disposal. If only everyone played like Grinnell....

Don't let facts get in the way of a good ill-informed rant.

Revisionist history. One million words have been spoken since Selection Sunday. This is the first I have heard this.

A few years ago, Kelvin Sampson's Indiana team and Ben Howland's UCLA played in a second-round game, I believe. I wanted to shoot myself watching that taffy pull.

As far as the mid-major thing, I would put Butler on par with a Gonzaga or Xavier at this point. In fact, has there ever been any scuttlebutt whatsoever about them joining the A-10? Seems like a good fit.

Kansas State played Utah State. Wisconsin played Belmont.

But I agree some with the "lets not get carried away" sentiment. Big East could look like the best conference when Final Four time comes.

Yeah, Butler did not play better than an 8 seed most of this year. For a while, it looked like they might not even make the tourney.

After watching the last field goal of that game, that was a base play Butler must have used all year. There was too much happening for that to be put together on the fly.

The real breakdown was the Pitt center who got caught between two offensive players. He was not guarding his player, and he was late in double teaming the player driving.

It was a beautiful play, and I am guessing Butler uses it for situations where they are under 10 seconds and have an out of bounds at the old five second line.

They did use a time out, IIRC, to set them up on that part of the floor.

The Youngstown State loss probably shook them up too. Shit, I think there's more dignity in losing to a team comprised of actual penguins than to Youngstown State.

    This post makes me sad.
