We've got shish kabobs marinating as we speak, chicken wings, steak strips and hot dogs.

Nothing too outlandish, as most of us who are going are journalists. We know our budget.

I still think Glenn Dorsey should win the Heisman.

He's the best player in the country. He plays for the best team in the country.

I agree. On both counts. Why is it (almost) always offense?

I don't know, the LSU defense hasn't exactly done much to inspire votes for Dorsey. He might be the best pro prospect in the country, but best collegiate player, I'm not so sure.

Because people love 59-56 games and hate 10-7 games.

He missed several weeks of practice thanks to that Auburn cheap shot, but I've watched him play and remain pretty darn sure he's the best player in America. Could be McFadden, though.

  9. Too bad the best player in the country qualification seems to rarely come into consideration for Heisman voters.

The entire Heisman process has been soured (not sourced) by the Charles Woodson / Peyton Manning fiasco in 1997.

Not because I'm a Peyton fanboy, but because 10 years later, sports talk in my hometown still won't shut the fuck up about it.

Others have had Woodson-like numbers since then and not won the Heisman.

    Woodson's numbers that season...
    8 interceptions for a total of 7 — S-E-V-E-N — return yards.
    47 tackles
    8.4 punt return average, 1 TD — 8.4 yards!
    5 rushes, 21 yards, 1 TD
    12 catches, 238 yards, 2 TD

Nevada's looking impressive since halftime. They just capped a 17-play, 90-yard drive with a touchdown to lead to take a 20-19 lead against Hawaii with about 18 minutes to play. They simply pounded it down the field.

No way he was down. That's a fumble. Stupid ref blew the whistle, though.
