Yes. WVU moved the ball better with its backup this season than it did before White went down.

Probably not, USF bottled him up very well both games as well.

Rice is just a horse, although that late fumble almost cost them.

Bottom line: USF did not play great. But I think the officials made some bad calls... I think that offensive pass interference call at the end was pretty iffy. I also think the touchdown on the blocked field goal should have counted (I didn't think the replay was conclusive that they passed the ball forward). Then again, I'm wearing green and gold glasses. :)

Didn't see the game, my coworkers said they thought there could have been two forward passes (with the second one pretty obvious) but were surprised you could call a penalty based on a replay.

    First, USF.
Next Thursday night, Va Tech over BC. Book it.

I'm not, and I agree. I also think the penalty on the late hit near the end of the game when the return man had just stepped on the white line was also a poor call. But it was bound to catch up with USF sooner or later, setting up for the next three games against UConn, Cincinnati and Syracuse to be little more than all-out bloodshed.

Realistically, no USF fan entered this season thinking national championship. To even be in the hunt at any point was a great thrill. Grothe is only a sophomore and we've got some great underclassmen running backs as well. And Walker is the only senior on the offensive line. So I think this offense will continue to mature and get better. I think USF might have a legit shot at making a run next season or in 2009. For now, I'll be happy if we can just win out and take the Big East title, which was the realistic goal before the season.

Sad that USF lost. A great thrill to see a young program like that climb so high.

Somebody needs to explain to me why USF should fall all the way to 16-17 as was posted earlier. If USF was in the SEC we wouldn't be hearing that.

For one thing, Rutgers is not an SEC team. I think if an SEC team suffered its first loss against Rutgers, people would expect that SEC team to take a pretty decent hit in the polls.

Barsuk, Again hypothetically... But the guys I know betting across the board, slinging large sums on just about every game, and not betting parlays to offset their bad bets, are getting slaughtered. But someone close to me who has keyed on 4 to 6 teams and has been riding them pretty much since week 2 (Cincinatti and Kentucky have been at the head of that list, Auburn (the Florida game was a thing of beauty) and South Carolina in some circumstances, Alabama in the week they played Arkansas, Maryland with the moneyline the week they took Rutgers, and almost seer-like instincts about when to take Hawaii with some ridiculous point spreads and when to stay away from them, and when to take the over and when not to with Hawaii).... And has a policy of not betting the Pac-10 or Big-10... That person who is very close to me has hit on a couple of 3, 4 and 5 team parlays, and even though he has lost more bets than he has won, he pretty much took home what he was willing to lose and will be giving back winnings (which have piled up into a nice sum) over the rest of the season, rather than his hard-earned non-gambling money. He's not feeling particularly masochistic, tonight's debacle aside.
